Ingredients
Scale
Bakery
- 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use already baked croissants, not raw dough)
Fruits
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
Dairy & Eggs
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
Pantry
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Cooking spray (for greasing the baking dish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to ensure easy removal after baking.
- Arrange Croissants and Berries: Evenly spread the broken croissant pieces across the prepared baking dish. Distribute the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries evenly on top of the croissants.
- Make the Creamy Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine and Chill: Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish. Cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 14 hours, to allow the croissants to soak up the custard.
- Bake the Casserole: Remove the cover from the baking dish and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown on top and the custard is set.
- Serve: Allow the bake to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle syrup over the top. Enjoy warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fully baked croissants, not raw dough, for the best texture and flavor.
- The bake can be prepared the night before and refrigerated to save time in the morning.
- Feel free to substitute or add other berries or fruits as desired.
- Serving with powdered sugar or syrup adds extra sweetness but is optional.
- Ensure cream cheese is well softened for a smooth custard mixture.
