Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • ½ cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 8 oz cremini or button mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 oval patties.
  2. Sear the Patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the patties for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter, add onions and mushrooms, sauté until browned. Sprinkle flour, then whisk in broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Simmer the Steaks: Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes until cooked through. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
