Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Olive oil spray
Alfredo Sauce
- 1 cup homemade or store-bought Alfredo sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter (if making homemade)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (if making homemade)
- 1 cup heavy cream (if making homemade)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (if making homemade)
Calzone
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup fresh spinach (optional)
Instructions
- Air Fry the Chicken: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the air fryer and shred into bite-sized pieces.
- Prepare Alfredo Sauce (if homemade): In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, then whisk in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
- Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with the Alfredo sauce and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Fold in fresh spinach if using to add a healthy touch.
- Shape the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into circles approximately 6 inches in diameter.
- Assemble Calzones: Spoon the chicken Alfredo filling onto one half of each dough circle. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the filling. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and press the edges firmly with a fork to seal well.
- Air Fry Calzones: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the calzones with olive oil spray to promote browning. Place them in the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- For a richer Alfredo sauce, use freshly grated Parmesan and real butter.
- Do not overfill the calzones to prevent leakage during cooking.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, the calzones can be baked in an oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden.
- Frozen pizza dough can be used; just thaw before rolling.
- Fresh spinach is optional but adds a nice flavor and nutritional boost.
