Description

Chicken Gloria is a creamy, flavorful skillet dish featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a rich mushroom and garlic cream sauce, topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and garnished with fresh parsley. This comforting and easy-to-make recipe is perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste

Sauce & Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly with paprika, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and salt to build flavor before cooking.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken breasts for 5 to 6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Mushrooms: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add sliced mushrooms and cook them for 4 to 5 minutes until they become softened and lightly golden.
  4. Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, ensuring the garlic doesn’t burn.
  5. Make the Cream Sauce: Pour the chicken broth and heavy cream into the skillet, stirring well to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Add Cheeses: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese into the sauce until melted and smooth.
  7. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon the creamy mushroom sauce over them, and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Finish Cooking: Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked through and the cheese on top is melted.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the dish before serving to add a bright and fresh finish.

Notes

  • You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it will be less creamy.
  • Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor; button or cremini mushrooms work well.
  • Ensure the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
  • This recipe pairs beautifully with pasta, rice, or steamed vegetables.
  • Leftovers can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
