Description

These Chipotle Ranch Burgers are a flavorful twist on the classic burger, combining juicy ground chuck patties seasoned with ranch and smoky chipotles in adobo sauce. Topped with melted cheddar cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce, and red onion, and slathered with a creamy chipotle ranch sauce, these burgers are perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers

  • 2 pounds 80% lean ground chuck
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) dry ranch seasoning/dressing mix
  • 2 teaspoons pureed chipotles in adobo sauce (found in Mexican food aisle in most grocery stores)

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup prepared ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon chipotles in adobo sauce

For Assembly

  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • Tomato slices, to taste
  • Lettuce, to taste
  • Sliced red onion, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck, dry ranch seasoning packet, and pureed chipotles in adobo sauce. Use clean hands to mix everything together evenly, ensuring the chipotle flavor is well incorporated. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each into a hamburger patty.
  2. Make the Chipotle Ranch Sauce: In a medium bowl, stir together the prepared ranch dressing and chipotles in adobo sauce until smooth. Cover the bowl and refrigerate until ready to use, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Grill the Burgers: Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan. Cook the burgers to your desired doneness, recommended medium-well, flipping once during cooking. During the last few minutes of grilling, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt thoroughly.
  4. Assemble the Burgers: Place each hot cheeseburger on the bottom half of a hamburger bun. Spoon about two tablespoons of the chipotle ranch sauce over each patty, then layer with tomato slices, lettuce, and red onion. Top with the bun and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Using 80% lean ground chuck provides a good balance of flavor and juiciness.
  • Chipotles in adobo sauce can be spicy; adjust quantities to taste for milder or spicier burgers.
  • If you don’t have an outdoor grill or grill pan, a cast-iron skillet can be used to cook the patties on the stovetop.
  • Allow burgers to rest for a couple of minutes before assembling to retain juiciness.
  • Leftover chipotle ranch sauce can be refrigerated in a sealed container for up to 3 days.
