Pretzel Crust:
- 2 cups mini pretzels, crushed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
Caramel Layer:
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Prepare Pretzel Crust: Mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, brown sugar, and ½ cup of peanut butter. Press into the pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- Make Caramel Layer: In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, remaining peanut butter, and salt. Cook until smooth, then stir in vanilla. Pour over the pretzel crust.
- Add Chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and bake for 10 minutes. Spread melted chocolate over the caramel layer and top with sea salt.
- Cool and Serve: Cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars.
Notes
- For a crunchier base, use whole pretzel twists and press them in a single layer.
- Bars can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
