For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

For the Edible Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4–6 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • For Optional Ganache Drip:

    • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
    • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Make the Cake: Combine dry ingredients; cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, alternate dry ingredients and milk, fold in chocolate chips, divide batter and bake.
  3. Prepare the Edible Cookie Dough: Cream butter and sugars, add vanilla and milk, mix in heat-treated flour and salt, fold in chocolate chips, shape into discs.
  4. Whip up the Frosting: Beat butter and brown sugar, add powdered sugar, heat-treated flour, salt, vanilla, and heavy cream, fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Assemble the Cake: Layer cake, frosting, cookie dough discs, repeat layers, frost the outside of the cake.
  6. Make the Ganache Drip: Heat cream, pour over chocolate, stir until smooth, drip over cake edges, chill before serving.

Notes

  • Use heat-treated flour for all cookie dough components for safety.
  • Freeze cookie dough discs for easier layering.
  • Best served chilled but at room temperature for optimal texture.
