Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square baking pan, or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and sour cream until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Add topping and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Mix cinnamon and sugar for the topping, then sprinkle it over the batter. Bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
