Ingredients
Scale
Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Filling
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 4 oz brie cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tbsp honey (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Finishing
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the puff pastry bites.
- Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into 12 equal squares, each large enough to fit into the cups of a mini muffin tin.
- Place pastry in muffin tin: Gently press each puff pastry square into the cups of the mini muffin tin, forming little cups to hold the filling.
- Add the filling: Into each pastry cup, spoon about a teaspoon of cranberry sauce. Then, add a small cube of brie cheese on top of the cranberry. Sprinkle finely chopped rosemary over the fillings if using, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Optional honey drizzle: Drizzle a small amount of honey over the fillings to add sweetness and balance the tartness of the cranberries.
- Apply egg wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry lightly with the beaten egg to help them turn golden brown and develop a glossy finish while baking.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is puffed up and golden, and the cheese is warm and melted.
- Cool and serve: Remove the cranberry brie bites from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before carefully removing them from the tin. Serve warm for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- You can use either store-bought or homemade cranberry sauce depending on your preference.
- Fresh rosemary adds a lovely herbal aroma but can be omitted if you prefer a simpler bite.
- For a vegan version, substitute brie with a plant-based cheese and use a vegan egg wash alternative.
- These bites are best served warm but can be reheated gently in the oven if needed.
- If you do not have a mini muffin tin, you can form small cups in a regular baking sheet but puff pastry may not hold shape as well.
