Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes
- 1 lb Yukon Gold or russet potatoes, scrubbed and cut into 1-inch cubes
Seasoning & Oil
- 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil (or avocado or grapeseed oil)
- ½ tsp fine sea salt
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Avocado oil spray for the air fryer basket
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes to prepare for cooking the potatoes.
- Toss potatoes with seasoning: In a large bowl, combine the cubed potatoes with the olive oil, sea salt, smoked paprika, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss until all the potatoes are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
- Prepare the air fryer basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil to prevent sticking and ensure optimal crisping.
- Arrange potatoes in basket: Place the seasoned potato cubes in a single layer inside the basket to allow for even air circulation and cooking.
- Air fry the potatoes: Cook the potatoes at 400°F for 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through at 10 and then again at 15 minutes to ensure even browning and crispiness.
- Check for doneness: After 20 minutes, check the potatoes. If they need more crisping or browning, cook for an additional 5 minutes or until they reach your preferred level of crispness and are golden brown.
- Serve immediately: Remove the potatoes from the basket and serve hot and crispy right away for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Use Yukon Gold potatoes for a buttery flavor and creamy texture, or russet potatoes for fluffier insides and extra crispiness.
- You can adjust the seasoning to taste by adding garlic powder, onion powder, or fresh herbs if you like.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- If you don’t have avocado oil spray, any neutral cooking spray or light brushing of oil will work.
- Shaking the basket periodically is key to preventing burning and ensuring all sides get crispy.
