Frozen Meatballs:
- 1 ½ pounds frozen fully-cooked meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)
Caramelized Onions:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Sauce:
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed French onion soup
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
Additional:
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil. Cook sliced onions until caramelized.
- Combine Ingredients: Transfer onions to crock pot. Add meatballs, French onion soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and thyme. Stir well.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over meatballs during last 15–20 minutes of cooking. Let melt.
- Finish & Serve: Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm over mashed potatoes, noodles, or bread.
