Frozen Meatballs:

  • 1 ½ pounds frozen fully-cooked meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)

Caramelized Onions:

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce:

  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed French onion soup
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Additional:

  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Caramelize Onions: In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil. Cook sliced onions until caramelized.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Transfer onions to crock pot. Add meatballs, French onion soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and thyme. Stir well.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours.
  4. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over meatballs during last 15–20 minutes of cooking. Let melt.
