Meat Mixture:
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce and Toppings:
- 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup sliced bell peppers
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- 12–15 slices pepperoni
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking dish: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the meat mixture: Brown the ground beef or sausage with onion in a skillet. Add garlic, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for a few minutes.
- Assemble and bake: Transfer the meat mixture to the baking dish. Top with mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, and half of the cheese. Add pepperoni slices and the rest of the cheese. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
