Ingredients
Scale
Pretzel Crust
- 2 cups Pretzels, crushed
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 8 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
Jello Mixture
- 6 oz Strawberry Jello (first package)
- 2 cups Boiling water (first batch)
- 6 oz Strawberry Jello (second package)
- 2 cups Boiling water (second batch)
- 1 lb Strawberries, sliced
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
- ½ cup Sugar
- 8 oz Whipped Topping, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the pretzel crust.
- Dissolve Jello: In a medium bowl, dissolve the first package of strawberry jello by combining it with 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved and set aside to cool.
- Prepare Pretzel Crust: Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir in ¼ cup sugar until dissolved. Add the crushed pretzels and mix until the pretzels are evenly coated with the butter and sugar mixture.
- Form and Bake Crust: Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, creating an even layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- Mix Cream Cheese Filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and ½ cup sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until well combined and light.
- Assemble Cream Cheese Layer: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust. Refrigerate the pan for about 30 minutes to allow the layer to set.
- Prepare Strawberry Jello with Fruit: Dissolve the second package of strawberry jello in 2 cups boiling water by stirring until fully dissolved and cooled. Fold the sliced strawberries into this cooled jello mixture.
- Add Jello Layer: Pour the strawberry jello and strawberry mixture gently over the chilled cream cheese layer, spreading evenly.
- Chill and Set: Return the assembled dish to the refrigerator and chill for 2-3 hours or until the jello topping is fully set.
- Serve: Once set, slice the salad into portions and serve chilled. Enjoy the perfect blend of sweet, creamy, and crunchy flavors!
Notes
- Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting or mixing layers.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and texture.
- The dessert can be prepared a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator, making it great for parties and gatherings.
- For a lower sugar version, reduce the added sugar or use a sugar substitute compatible with gelatin desserts.
- When folding whipped topping into cream cheese, do so gently to maintain a light, fluffy texture.
