Description
Indulge in the bright and tangy flavor of homemade Easy Orange Curd. This simple recipe yields a luscious spread perfect for toast, pastries, or as a dessert topping.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Orange Curd:
- ½ cup fresh orange juice (from about 2 oranges)
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, whisk together the orange juice, zest, sugar, eggs, and salt until smooth.
- Add the butter and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 8–10 minutes. Do not let it boil.
- Once thickened, remove from heat and strain the curd through a fine mesh sieve into a clean bowl to remove zest and any cooked egg bits.
- Let cool to room temperature, then transfer to a jar or airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before using.
Notes
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Use as a spread for toast, filling for cakes, topping for yogurt, or swirl into muffins and cheesecakes.
