Description

These Greek Chicken Gyros are a delicious Mediterranean dish featuring marinated grilled chicken wrapped in warm pita bread with fresh veggies and tangy tzatziki sauce.

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For Serving:

  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, red wine vinegar, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add chicken, toss to coat, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Grill the Chicken: Preheat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5 to 6 minutes per side or until fully cooked (165°F internal temperature). Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  3. Assemble the Gyros: Warm pita bread on the grill. Layer lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and sliced chicken onto each pita. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce, fold, and serve.
