Description

Experience a refreshing tropical escape with this homemade Mango Iced Tea recipe. Combining robust black tea with the natural sweetness of ripe mango and a touch of honey, this delightful beverage is perfect for cooling down on a warm day. Easy to prepare with simple ingredients, it’s a flavorful and fruity twist on classic iced tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 cups Water (Essential for steeping the tea)
  • 2 bags Black Tea Bags (Robust flavor; can substitute with loose leaf tea)

Mango Puree

  • 1 large Ripe Mango (Adds sweetness and tropical flavor; frozen mango can be used)
  • 2 cups Water (For boiling the mango)

Sweetener & Serving

  • 2 tablespoons Honey (Adjust to taste; can substitute with agave syrup)
  • Ice cubes as needed (Using frozen tea or mango cubes prevents dilution)
  • Extra mango slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil Water and Steep Tea: Begin by boiling 2 cups of water in a kettle. Once boiling, add the black tea bags and steep for about 10 minutes until the tea is strong and aromatic.
  2. Prepare Mango Mixture: While your tea is steeping, grab another saucepan and add 2 cups of water along with your diced ripe mango. Bring it to a boil to release the tropical flavors.
  3. Simmer and Mash Mango: Reduce the heat and let the mango simmer for about 10 minutes, mashing it gently with a fork or potato masher to create a smooth puree.
  4. Strain and Combine: Carefully pour your mango mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the pitcher containing the steeped tea, removing any solids for a smooth texture.
  5. Add Sweetener: Stir in your desired amount of honey into the pitcher. Mix well to combine, tasting as you go to balance sweetness.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before pouring it over ice cubes. Garnish with extra mango slices and serve chilled.

Notes

  • You can substitute honey with agave syrup or your preferred sweetener.
  • Using frozen mango or ice cubes made from brewed tea helps prevent the drink from becoming diluted.
  • For a stronger mango flavor, use extra ripe mangoes or increase the simmering time slightly.
  • This recipe can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Adjust the tea steeping time if you prefer a lighter or stronger tea base.
