Description

A deliciously sweet and spicy Hot Honey Popcorn that combines the natural sweetness of honey with a kick of heat from hot sauce and cayenne pepper. Perfect as a snack or movie night treat, this easy-to-make recipe coats freshly popped popcorn with a buttery, flavorful glaze for a crunchy and addictive taste experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn

  • 10 cups popped popcorn, plain

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce, depending on heat preference
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn: Place the 10 cups of plain popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside to get ready for coating.
  2. Make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in 1/4 cup honey, 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust based on your heat preference), 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper if using, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder if desired. Cook the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes smooth and slightly bubbly.
  3. Coat the popcorn: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately drizzle the hot honey sauce over the bowl of popcorn. Toss well to evenly coat all the popcorn kernels with the flavorful glaze.
  4. Set the coating: Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the coating to set slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce and cayenne pepper to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • For extra crunch, bake the coated popcorn at 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
