Ingredients
Scale
Popcorn
- 10 cups popped popcorn, plain
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce, depending on heat preference
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the popcorn: Place the 10 cups of plain popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside to get ready for coating.
- Make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in 1/4 cup honey, 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust based on your heat preference), 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper if using, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder if desired. Cook the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes smooth and slightly bubbly.
- Coat the popcorn: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately drizzle the hot honey sauce over the bowl of popcorn. Toss well to evenly coat all the popcorn kernels with the flavorful glaze.
- Set the coating: Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the coating to set slightly before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce and cayenne pepper to control the spice level according to your preference.
- For extra crunch, bake the coated popcorn at 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
