Description

This flavorful One-Pot Teriyaki Noodles recipe combines tender shredded cabbage and carrots sautéed with a savory-sweet teriyaki sauce coating perfectly cooked spaghetti. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s an easy and delicious meal with minimal cleanup, perfect for busy weeknights. The combination of soy sauce, brown sugar, and aromatic spices delivers that classic teriyaki taste with a comforting noodle dish twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1/2 green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, shredded

Sauce & Seasoning

  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Main Ingredients

  • 16 oz spaghetti (1 pound box)
  • 3 1/2 cups water (plus extra 1/2 cup if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (plus extra for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Sauté Vegetables: Heat a large pot over medium-high heat and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Add the shredded cabbage and carrots and sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly softened.
  2. Add Sauce Ingredients: Stir in 2/3 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Mix well to combine everything evenly.
  3. Cook Noodles and Simmer: Add the entire 16 oz box of spaghetti to the pot along with 3 1/2 cups water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to medium and cook uncovered for 15-18 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. If the noodles are not tender and the sauce is too thin after this time, add an additional 1/2 cup of water and continue cooking until noodles are tender and sauce thickens.
  4. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, then toss in 1 tablespoon sesame seeds. Serve the dish immediately, garnished optionally with extra sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure to stir occasionally during cooking to prevent noodles from sticking to the pot.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, cook the noodles slightly longer uncovered to allow more liquid to evaporate.
  • Use gluten-free spaghetti to make the recipe gluten-free if needed.
  • Adding green onions or chopped fresh herbs for garnish adds extra freshness and color.
  • Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce by varying the amount of brown sugar or soy sauce according to taste.
