Ingredients
Scale
Cauliflower Steaks
- 1 large head of cauliflower
Garlic Oil Mixture
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for roasting the cauliflower steaks.
- Prepare Cauliflower: Remove the leaves from the cauliflower and trim the stem, keeping the head intact so it can be sliced into steaks.
- Slice Cauliflower: Place the cauliflower head stem-side down on a cutting board and carefully slice it into 1-inch thick steaks. Try to keep the steaks intact as much as possible.
- Make Garlic Oil Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, dried thyme, and fresh lemon juice. Mix well to blend the flavors.
- Brush Cauliflower Steaks: Generously brush both sides of each cauliflower steak with the garlic oil mixture, ensuring even coating for flavorful roasting.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the coated cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
- Roast Cauliflower: Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the steaks halfway through to promote even browning. Cook until the steaks are golden brown and tender.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove the cauliflower steaks from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving to add a fresh, vibrant touch.
Notes
- Use a sharp knife to slice the cauliflower steaks carefully to prevent them from breaking apart.
- If the cauliflower head doesn’t slice evenly, use the remaining florets to roast alongside the steaks.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, especially the salt and garlic quantities.
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese after roasting (optional, not vegan).
- Serve these steaks with a side of couscous, quinoa, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
